JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Biology, in the Eberly College of Science, is seeking a diverse group of life science undergraduates at the University Park campus to serve as New Student Orientation (NSO) Student Assistants during summer 2024. Primary responsibilities will include assisting incoming first-year students with navigating the LionPath/Starfish/Canvas platforms, helping students enroll in summer and fall courses, and greeting and checking in students when they arrive at the afternoon Eberly College of Science (ECoS) Advising Meeting. NSO Student Assistants will gain leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. 

NSO Student Assistants must be available for training (May 20, 1:30 – 4:30 pm) and all/most NSO programs (May 21 – July 25 and August 20 – 22, 2024). NSO Student Assistants will be scheduled to work certain days on Monday through Friday during the hours of about 1:45 pm - 5:00 pm, for a total of about 10 - 15 hours per week. Applicants should be at least a 2nd semester Penn State student in good academic standing. Preference will be given to those pursuing a major in the Eberly College of Science (Biology majors preferred but not required). Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and current resume.
