STUDENT ENGAGEMENT (SE-SSER-IUSEA)

Student Central provides a high-level service delivery philosophy and functions as a central operational unit for student support services on the SE campus. Cross trained staff perform a variety of complex duties involving the interpretation, dissemination, evaluation, and problem-solving of student services and information for students, the general public, staff, and faculty (clients). The areas include, but are not limited to: financial aid, registration, financial literacy, student accounts, and other university-related services. This position's main responsibility is providing customer service and administrative support at the Grenadier Welcome Center for the Student Central office for student services. Offices included in Student Central are: the Office of the Bursar, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of the Registrar. 

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Greets all visitors, assessing questions, providing resources, scheduling appointments, checking in for appointments, directing visitors to correct locations, navigating websites, understanding forms, providing resources and student deadlines.
  • Reviews account balances and direct students on how to write checks. 
  • Answers and manages chatbot for Student Central website.  
  • Other tasks include, but are not limited to, shredding, data entry, process reports, duplicating, and communicating in person.
  • Delivers full range of customer service to all clients including current students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and alumni.  
  • Manages check in system. 
  • Understand basic policy and procedures in regards to billing, refunding, registration, drop/add, transcripts, student deadlines, financial aid and related enrollment management departments.
  • Manages chatbot, scheduling appointments, process reports, copying, filing, folding letters, and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
Knowledge of computers and database/word processing software. 
Excellent Communication skills: verbal
Excellent Customer Service skills

Ability to work with wide range of people

Ability to handle fast-paced environment. 
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to correctly direct a student to the appropriate office

All tasks and activities related to this position are time sensitive and critical to student success. Individual must exercise a welcoming and positive attitude when greeting students.  Individual must exercise care and focus when handling conversations.  Mistakes can cause hardship to the student and may impact their ability persist to graduation.

Modest physical effort is required and may include standing or sitting for extended periods.

Ability to move items weighting up to 10 pounds.
