Part-Time Student Advising Receptionist

UNIVERSITY DIVISION (BL-UDIV-IUBLA)

The University Division is a unit of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University. 

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists with New Student Orientation (June 3 - July 24, August 15, and August 20, 2024).
  • Greets students. 
  • Alerts advising to a student's arrival using an electronic check-in system. 
  • Directs students to the appropriate advising and registration centers on multiple floors of the Herman B. Wells Library. 
  • Directs non-students to appropriate waiting areas in the Herman B. Wells Library. 
  • Guides students to their next step in the Orientation process. 
  • Performs a variety of other clerical duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

SKILLS

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Polite, respectful, friendly, and welcoming demeanor
  • Ability to work well with diverse clientele
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy interactive environment with frequent interruptions
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
