Position Description


Mobile Health Map (MHM) is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to assist and support our efforts to advise mobile health clinics across the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to improve public health and advance health and racial equity.

Mobile Health Map, a program of Harvard Medical School, helps mobile health clinics measure, improve, and communicate their impact. Since 2007, MHM has been the go-to expert for promoting mobile healthcare to vulnerable populations. Our innovative digital resources have allowed mobile clinics across the country to analyze their community health outcomes, return on investment and success.

The Research Assistant will report to the Program Manager of MHM and work collaboratively to identify opportunities for innovation, assist mobile clinics in developing evaluation plans, and ensure that results are disseminated strategically. This will include assisting our Mobile Health Innovation Collaborative cohorts with ensuring high quality data, managing social media presence, updating the website, creating monthly newsletters, and other duties as assigned. The Research Assistant will also work with staff, volunteers, practicum students, and interns.


Basic Qualifications

2+ years of relevant experience. A Bachelor's Degree may count towards experience.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in developing education and communications materials such as social media and newsletters.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, including communicating by video conference, phone, and/or in person (when needed) and ability to adjust style and messaging depending on the audience and medium.
  • Custom service, problem solving and troubleshooting skills used for helping users when they encounter problems or have questions.
  • Ability to work with people across a diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also to work independently and take personal initiative to complete tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in or capability of learning new software (e.g., Zoom, Salesforce, Constant Contact, WordPress, Google Suite –Slides, Docs, Slack, etc.).
  • Proficiency in interpreting data and presenting through data visualization.
  • Ability to work virtually or in person.

Please also note this is a part time, 20 hours (.57 FTE) per week position.

This is a 18-month term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position. 

This position is based in Boston, but the work may be done fully or primarily remote. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT). Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt.
