JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our highly productive team in the role of Research Project Manager. The College of Nursing is large and diverse, with an extensive research portfolio, as well as numerous collaborations and partnerships on and off campus.

The Research Project Manager plans, develops, and maintains procedures, equipment, and policies that have an impact on all facets of behavioral and clinical research in the long-term care environment. Under the direction of Dr. Liza Behrens PhD, RN the Project Manager leads research program strategy, program management, technology approach, implementation methodology, quality control, and support for the DIGNITY program; performs quantitative and qualitative data collection, and data analysis; interprets and presents data to a variety of audiences; interfaces with multiple levels of the organization and external entities to discuss services and technology; establishes and maintains collaborative relationship with administrators, faculty, and staff to advise, facilitate, and/or train in the essential elements of the program; oversees budget management, preparation and submission of grants, staffing, support staff supervision, records management and statistical report preparation, meeting coordination and documentation of studies; ensures program compliance with government regulations, University policies, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, and prepares regulatory reports.


Job Duties
Specific duties are performed at various levels per the direction of Dr. Behrens including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with recruiting clinical sites and communicating with stakeholders, research participants, and research participant family members. 
  • Assisting with research team training and meeting scheduling.
  • Assisting with IRB application submissions and reporting.
  • Participating in recruiting, screening, and consenting research participants.
  • Participating in research procedures at clinical sites. 
  • Assisting with data analysis and data management.
  • Assisting with interview and survey data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Assisting with scheduling clinical study procedures and research assistant work hours.
  • Participating in other research-related activities as delegated.
  • May need to receive COVID-19 tests regularly as required by clinical sites or policy of the university and government.   


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination at least 2 weeks before employment as required by clinical research sites.  
  • Must have exemplary computer skills in MS Office. Experience with database management with Qualtrics, REDCap, and NVIVO preferred.
  • Must be able to work with the research team and research participants and work independently to meet project deadlines. 
  • Preference may be given to individuals who have a healthcare background, effective communication skills, and experience working with older adults.
