Description

 

During the Spring quarter, 2024, the Department of Visual Arts and the Humanities Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago seek a part-time Lecturer to teach one section of ARTV 10100 (“Visual Language: On Images”). This class will be held at the University’s affiliate, The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA. Salary is $12,000. Room and board will be covered. Travel will be reimbursed. The position is not benefits-eligible.

An MFA or equivalent is required. Applicants must have experience teaching art at the college or post- secondary level with the interest and ability to communicate both within one's specific disciplinary area as well as across a range of media practice.

Responsibilities will include preparing workshop-style classes, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparation and grading of assignments and testing materials. Applicants are expected to create a course that meshes with the unique physical environment of the Marine Biological Laboratory in Cape Cod, the proximity to the coast, and the emphasis of the program on biology.
