Description

NYU Tel Aviv is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach the lecture and recitation sections of General Chemistry II, under the sponsorship of the Chemistry Department of New York University. The course would be taught in the Fall 2023 semester (September 1 - December 15, 2023).  For further course content information, please review the sample syllabus . Course topics include solution chemistry, kinetics, equilibrium, buffers, solubility, and electrochemistry. Learning Objectives include:

  • To become familiar with the scope, methodology, and application of modern chemistry and to learn to appreciate its ability to explain the physical world.

  • To understand that all matter consists of atoms, and that the limitless variety observed around us stems from the ways that these atoms bond with one another.

  • To become adept at problem solving by learning to interpret data, to employ valid and efficient methods of analysis, and to assess whether or not the results of calculations are reasonable.

  • To learn the principles of chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, thermodynamics, and nuclear chemistry.

  • To generalize the analytical and quantitative skills gained in this course and to apply them in more advanced courses

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should hold a graduate degree in Chemistry or related field and have a strong record of research as well as experience teaching. Candidates who have experience in teaching within an American university system to a diverse English-speaking undergraduate student body are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those who have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching at the university level in English. Applicants are required to have a legal right to work in Israel.
