NYU Tel Aviv is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course on Epidemiology for Global Health, under the sponsorship of New York University's School of Global Public Health. The course would be taught in the Spring 2023 semester (January 24-May 16, 2023).  For further course content information, please review this sample syllabus .

 Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health and illness in human populations and the application of this study to control health problems. The purpose of this course is to introduce undergraduate students to the basic principles and methods of epidemiology in a global context and to demonstrate their applicability in the field of public health. Topics covered in this course include history, background and different perspectives of epidemiology, measures of disease frequency; measures of association; epidemiologic study designs; public health surveillance; outbreak investigations; assessment of causality; and relationship between epidemiology and public health policies. In addition, students will develop the necessary skills to critically read, interpret and assess health information from published epidemiological studies and mass media sources.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should hold a PhD in Public Health or related field, with a specialization in Epidemiology preferred, though not required, as well as experience teaching. A strong record of research is also preferred though not required. Candidates who have experience in teaching within an American or international university system to a diverse English speaking undergraduate student body are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those who have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience teaching at the university level in English. Applicants are required to have a legal right to work in Israel.
