The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland campus) invites applications for several part-time Lab Instructor positions, with an anticipated start date of January 8, 2024. These positions are on a 4-month basis, are outside of the tenure stream, and will require administrative and budgetary approval. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. The positions are within the General Chemistry and Organic programs which have labs or recitations that begin at 8:00 am, 1 pm, and 6 pm. A successful applicant will teach one or several one-hour recitations, and/or three- or four-hour wet labs, or a combination thereof, as is mutually agreed upon. 

Minimum qualifications:  Applicants should have earned a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a chemistry or closely allied discipline from an accredited university and already should be authorized to be employed in the United States.

Preferred qualifications:  Applicants with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters and above) in an appropriate discipline, with experience teaching university chemistry laboratories or recitations, and with a demonstrated awareness of chemical safety practices, are preferred.
