Position: Electrical Construction Systems Technology Laboratory Assistant

Location: All Campuses

Department: Division of Business, Industry, and Technology

Reports to: Program Chair for Electrical Construction Systems Technology and Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction.
  • Assists faculty with the supervision and mentoring of students during scheduled lab sessions or tutoring sessions, as needed.
  • Assists faculty with maintaining a clean and safe lab environment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment, as instructed.
  • Assists with inventory maintenance and requisition of supplies.
  • Obtains materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials.
  • Completes ALL required employee trainings.
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed.
  • Assists with special projects or initiatives, as needed.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by program chair.
Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory completion of the following courses or their equivalents: ELTR 1040, ELTR 1070, and ELTR 1100.
  • Six (6) month to one (1) year of related work experience in an electrical construction, maintenance, or manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of the Basic Electrician certificate, Commercial Electrical Technician certificate, Industrial Controls Technician certificate, Photovoltaic Systems Technician certificate, Residential Electrical Technician certificate, or the Electrical Construction Systems Technology diploma.
  • Current student in good academic standing in the Electrical Construction Systems Technology Program at Athens Technical College.
