Position Summary Information


Objective
The primary focus of the Part Time Lab Instructor is on radiologic procedures education, supervision, and evaluation of students in the program lab settings to promote clinical competence.
Instructor may also expect to report to affiliated clinical settings for clinical instruction as necessary/assigned.
Essential Duties
  • Possess extensive knowledge in radiographic positioning skills according to Merrill’s Atlas.
  • Teach radiographic positioning to radiologic technology students in the lab setting according to program curriculum.
  • Be familiar with operating the x-ray/digital equipment’s setting and techniques using both manual and AEC.
  • Evaluate student radiographic images, critiques and scenarios and provided useful feedback.
  • Evaluate student performance during positioning competencies.
  • Promote student critical skills thinking – for an instance in a courses such as lab instructor would have, these skills would pertain to events that would be found in a lab/clinical settings.
  • Display excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a team of radiologic technology educators.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program mission and goals, program policies, procedures, and student progress.
  • Monitor and enforce program policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Holds A.A.S degree or higher in Radiologic Technology/Sciences.
  • Has at least two years of clinical experience in the professional discipline.
Preferred Experience and Training
  • Has three or more years of clinical experience in the professional discipline.
  • Has prior experience with radiologic technology student instruction.
Physical Requirements
Radiology Labs contain x-ray systems capable of producing ionizing radiation.

Required Degree, License or Certifications
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration.
Current unrestricted state license for the state of Texas in Radiography recognized by the Texas Medical Board.
