JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Intensive English Communication Program  (IECP), which is housed under the Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts at The Pennsylvania State University, invites applications for part-time lecturer appointments for the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 sessions. 

The Intensive English Communication Program (IECP) offers courses in academic English to prepare international students for undergraduate and graduate studies at American universities. 

Job Duties

  • Part-time lecturers are needed for teaching non-credit intensive English courses in one of four levels of instruction.
  • Some course-related administrative duties are required of all appointments. 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in TESOL or related area (e.g., TEFL, ESL, etc.) is required; pursuit toward such a degree or BA-TESOL may be acceptable for some positions. Prior teaching experience in an intensive English program or an academic English preparation program is preferred. 
  • Appointments entail approximately 10 hours per week for a duration of 8 weeks. 
  • Successful candidates must show an active interest in ongoing professional development and have a knowledgeable command of the English language.
