Job Description

We are seeking a Part-Time HR Assistant at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute located in Roanoke, VA. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing HR Administrative support to FBRI and HS&T. This position is responsible for assisting with personnel records, leave processes, wage payroll, and correspondence. This position will also play a key role in the processing of HR paperwork and maintaining human resources records in accordance with university guidelines. The ideal candidate should have administrative experience and experience working with confidential information. HRIS experience is recommended but not required.

This position requires someone with a commitment to customer service, the ability to collaborate, attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to communicate effectively.

The HR functions of this position will be responsible for maintaining employee directories, maintaining monthly leave records, supporting the Sr. HR Manager in completion of new hire paperwork, wage timecard entry, communicating deadlines to meet compliance goals, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Professional office experience
• Experience with and the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of computer software such as work processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email clients
• Demonstrated experience in working with confidential information
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and seamlessly with team members and independently on tasks
• Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility

Preferred Qualifications

• AS or BS Degree
• Experience with payroll, human resource, and/or employee onboarding
• Experience with enterprise systems for business actions such as procurement, HRIS, ATS
