INDIANA GEOLOGICAL & WATER SUR (BL-GEOY-IUBLA)
The Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS), a research institute of Indiana University (IU), seeks applications for a Visitor Services Assistant that will facilitate the front-line visitor experience at the IGWS Learning Lab.
- Responsible for daily visitor services at the IGWS Learning Lab, an experiential learning center in the heart of the IU Bloomington campus.
- Engages with the public in daily, frontline operations to ensure a safe, educational, and memorable experience.
- Greets, orients, and answers questions from walk-in visitors, conducts tours, and assists with scheduled outreach events.
- Maintains facility security by opening and closing the Learning Lab each day.
- Processes credit card sales, pack orders, and maintain inventory for the IGWS store.
- Maintains a professional demeanor with both staff and visitors alike.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) and 2 years of experience working in a customer service area or office environment
SKILLS
Preferred
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with groups of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook. Intermediate office and bookkeeping skills
- Knowledge of geology or natural sciences
