Position Summary Information


Objective
To perform the day-to-day operations of the instructional program. Faculty members at Blinn College are unranked and have the common title of Instructor.
Essential Duties
1. Teach Kinesiology activity and/or lecture classes.
2. Maintain office hours as set by the college.
3. Prepare course syllabus, which includes stated objectives for each course.
4. Keep current on developments regarding instructional methodology, particularly supplemental, blended, or fully online instruction, and related instructional theories.
5. Assist in making recommendations to the Department Head, Assistant Dean, or Dean regarding curriculum additions, deletions, or revisions as well as assist the Department of Kinesiology in program development.
6. Provide a grade evaluation on each student’s performance in a timely fashion and frequency required by the college.
7. Maintain involvement with professional organizations.
8. Attend faculty meetings as assigned.
9. Perform other related tasks as assigned including teaching outside the Blinn College facilities.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Activity courses: BS in Health and Kinesiology with appropriate certifications or experience.
Lecture courses: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching field(s).
Must be able to pass required background checks for Blinn College and background and/or finger printing for any external facilities, per their requirements.
Preferred Experience and Training
1. Candidate must show strong Kinesiology and/or Health background at the graduate level.
2. College level teaching and/or professional practice preferred.
3. Ability to teach a variety of Kinesiology activity and lecture courses.
4. Ability and interest in working in collaboration with a team of professors to further the development of the department.
Physical Requirements
Proficiency in a variety of the fundamental skills involved in the Activity Classes. Must be able to teach and demonstrate skills necessary for activity.
Required Degree, License or Certifications
Activity:
Bachelor’s degree in Health or Kinesiology or Bachelor’s with appropriate experience and certifications.
Lecture:
Master’s degree in Health or Kinesiology.
or
Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in health or Kinesiology.
