JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Shenango is hiring for a part-time Head Men's Basketball Coach.

Penn State Shenango is affiliated with the United States College Athletic Association (USCAA) and participates in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). The part-time Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for initiating and administrating all aspects of the program including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling team activities and team activities and competition, academic monitoring, budget monitoring and fundraising.

Essential Functions: The Head Men’s Basketball Coach will direct every aspect of this USCAA, athletic program.  That direction will include at least the following:

  • Maintain an acceptable roster of student-athletes as determined in consultation with the Coordinator of Athletics;
  • Direct the strength, conditioning, and skill training of the student-athletes in the program;
  • Plan and coordinate effective team practices in preparation for the program’s competitions;
  • Schedule an acceptable number of athletic contests each season as outlined by USCAA and Penn State University Athletic Conference;
  • Plan Team travel;
  • Serve as game coach for each contest;
  • Coordinate fundraising activities to support the program financially;
  • Manage the program’s budget in cooperation with the PSU Shenango Business Office;
  • Effectively manage coaching and support staff;
  • Represent Penn State Shenango and the Men’s Basketball program in a professional manner consistent with the mission of Penn State University.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US 
driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required 
in addition to standard background checks.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
• PA State Police Criminal Background Check
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form 
• FBI Criminal Background Check
