Position Summary
An EKU Campus Recreation Fitness Instructor is expected to lead weekly group fitness classes matching the format that they have demonstrated training or experience instructing. The incumbent will also participate in campus recreation special events, sub for other instructors as needed, or lead private classes off-site that have been solicited from EKU Campus Recreation.
Responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a mentor to new employees, often students.
  • Lead clinics and workshops to develop fellow instructors, or prospective instructors (often students).
  • Assist with program scheduling, facilitating and creating programs as needed.
  • Instructors must lead at least 2 classes per week, and complete one office hour per week.
Sponsorship Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.

Minimum Qualifications
An instructor must have training of some sort, whether that is: a specialty or general group fitness certification, a workshop hosted at EKU, prior experience instructing group fitness classes, or studio training (such as for dance or boxing).
NCCA-accredited certification is required within 90 days of employment.
Desired Qualifications
NCCA-accredited certification is preferred whether that is a specialty or a general group fitness certification. Ability to obtain this within 90 days of employment is required, unless extenuating circumstances limit the possibility for this to be accomplished.
