Department Summary
The School of Social Work has both a thriving BSW and MSW program. Current total enrollment is approximately 550. Our programs are staffed by 16 full time faculty, more than 15 part time faculty, three field education specialists and two administrators. Our programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.

Essential Duties
The School of Social Work at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates.
We seek part-time instructors to teach along with full time faculty and field staff in our Saturday MSW (Master of Social Work) program option. This option allows students who work to attend classes on Saturday in a three-year part-time program. Each cohort of about 20 students go through the MSW program in three years, part-time together in each class. Internships typically take place during daytime and weekday hours. Classes are held on Saturdays between 8:30 and 4 PM, and the program is hybrid, so presence on campus is not required every Saturday. This is not an online program. Students in this program tend to be self-starters and many have prior work experience.
Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.
Candidates must:
  • demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
  • Utilize an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race.

Specific course offerings include:
  • Teaching up to 11 credits per semester as assigned by the School of Social Work chairperson.

Required Qualifications
Required qualifications are:
1. A master’s degree in social work or a related field
2. At least 2 yrs post MSW experience
3. Ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Preferred Qualifications
1. MSW degree and LICSW
2. Teaching experience in a BSW or MSW program
