The Aims Community College Fire Science Program is seeking part-time faculty to teach Fire Science classes that are part of the Fire Science Technology AAS Degree Program. The Fire Science program is growing and we need individuals that can commit to teaching Fire Science classes in a lead instructor role. The Aims CC Fire Science program is known for our commitment to high standards and innovative learning. The Fire Science Program has some of the best equipment in Colorado and a new and modern facility that was built as a model for student centered learning.

Job Duties:

1. Teaching – provide effective and high quality instruction; refine and modernize curriculum to be educationally sound and meet the high standards of the College. Plan for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning.
2. Organize fire training labs and oversee assistant instructors.
3. Develop and maintain a course shell in an online learning platform.
4. Submit grades and course syllabi on time and maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
5. Assure compliance with outside agency regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United states on a part/full-time basis.

1. Bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field from an accredited college or university OR Associate degree in fire science or related field PLUS 8,000 hours of experience.
2. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the fire service.
3. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
4. Have completed a course in teaching adults (e.g. Train the Trainer) or have documented experience in teaching adults.
5. Qualify for a full-time Colorado Vocational Credential in Emergency and Fire Management Services.

Faculty Credentials:

1. Faculty must hold a career and technical education credential in the discipline in which they teach as required by the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Criteria for the credentials vary slightly by discipline. Permanent forbearance of career and technical education experience or other deficiencies related to career and technical education credential requirements may be granted only by the CCCS Credentialing Oversight Committee. Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in a community college teaching environment, curriculum writing, and alternative delivery instruction.
2. Online curriculum development experience.

Minimum Payment Amount:

C – Lecture – $1,194.00 per credit

D – Recitation: Discussion/Seminar – $1,194.00 per credit

E – Laboratory/Career and Technical – $1,302.00 per credit

F1 – Laboratory: Academic – $1,437.00 per credit

F2 – Laboratory: Academic – $1,628.00 per credit

G – Physical Education/Recreation Courses – $1,437.00 per credit

H – Studio: Art – $1,437.00 per credit

J – Studio: Music – $1,528.00 per credit

L2 – Clinical or Internship Instructor On-Site – $1,437.00 per credit

L3 – Clinical or Internship Rad Tech – $2,802.00 per credit

L4 – Clinical or Internship Nursing - $2,928.00 - $3,252.00 per credit based on employee’s highest applicable degree

M2 – Clinical or Internship Instructor On-Site - $1,437.00 per credit

M3 – Clinical or Internship Nursing and/or Nurse Aide (Health/Nurse Aide) - $1,952.00 - $2,168.00 per credit, based on employee’s highest applicable degree

In certain instances, due to low enrollment, instructors payment will be based on part-time per credit pay and pro-rated on a 10% per student basis.

Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
