Job Description:

BerkleeNYC is searching for a recognized professional to teach and continue to develop the class “Entrepreneurship and Business Practices in Live Music Event Production”.

BerkleeNYC invites applications for a Part-Time faculty member of the Live Music Production and Design department.

The Master of Arts in Creative Media and Technology, Live Music Production and Design Specialization explores a forward-thinking approach to the design, management, and execution of live music productions. Students receive training in performance technologies including sound design, lighting design, projection mapping, LED panel technology, stage design and management, computer aided design, and video production, all supported by experiential opportunities.

Reporting to and under the supervision of the Program Director of Live Music Production and Design, the ideal candidate will have content expertise and be skilled in pedagogical practices that engage students and make business and management education relevant. As a recognized professional in this topic area, the faculty member will be responsible for teaching and the continued development of the class “Entrepreneurship and Business Practices in Live Music Event Production”.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • All Faculty, staff and students are required to be fully vaccinated in order to participate in any activities on campus

  • Experience teaching at the university level

  • Record of creative scholarship/professional activity

  • Extensive experience in live concert management, touring, accounting and general business practices

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching one weekly 2 hour graduate level business class in the LMPD department in the spring semesters on campus at 441 W53rd street NYC

  • Hold weekly office hours on campus, advising students in the Masters of Arts in Creative Media and Technology program at BerkleeNYC

  • Serve as faculty advisor as needed for students in the above program, including serving on the jury for culminating experience thesis projects

  • Teach the standard business practices necessary for success as a freelance audio, video, or lighting technician

  • Teach the standard management practices found in live music events including venue operation and touring management

  • Present relevant case studies that demonstrate the budgets, schedules, logistics and income streams found in concert tours and music venues

  • Attend Department meetings and contribute to the faculty community of Live Music Production Design Design, BerkleeNYC, and Berklee

  • Engage in professional development to maintain and continually advance teaching skills

The hiring range for this position is $70.00 - $125.00 per hour (depending upon rank).
