Position Summary Information


Objective
Provide didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction in all areas of nursing education according to accreditation standards and guidelines. Faculty may be assigned to teach courses on the RELLIS campus or Brenham campuses, and/or other clinical affiliates sites.
Essential Duties
1. Deliver curricula to upper and/or lower-level nursing students in a variety of teaching modalities within the nursing program
2. Evaluate students for appropriate competency as determined by program and student learning outcomes
3. Assign grades according to program and institutional policies and procedures
4. Participate in professional development related to teaching, instruction, and student learning
5. Attend program, divisional, and institutional meetings
6. Work collaboratively with others as part of a team to foster a positive work environment under the direction of the Director of Nursing
7. Assist the program with program evaluation/revision, curriculum development, and reviewing outcomes to maintain compliance with accreditation agencies
8. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to articulate nursing concepts and patient safety standards to nursing students in verbal and written formats
2. Adequately use (or be willing to learn) digital technology for instruction in a variety of settings
3. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with students, faculty, and college officials
4. Three (3) years experience working in the nursing field
Preferred Experience and Training
1. Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of nursing specialties
2. Specialty certification/credentialing in at least one specialty
3. Experience teaching in a professional nursing program
Physical Requirements
• Demonstrate immunity per agreements with clinical affiliates
• Must be able to meet the following physical demands; bending, walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and handling equipment, supplies or patients exceeding 25 pounds.
• Must be able to lift 25 to 35 pounds without restrictions
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Alertness at all times while performing duties on campus or in the clinical setting
Required Degree, License or Certifications
1. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas
2. Master’s or terminal degree in Nursing (preferred), or
3. Must hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an approved/accredited program AND be currently enrolled in a master’s nursing education program and have earned a minimum of 50% of the required credits towards the master’s degree in nursing
