What we want
The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Part-Time Executive Director to serve as a member of the School of Medicines Deans Office. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of executive experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Job Description Summary
This position is part-time and is scheduled for 20% PTE.
The part-time Executive Director for the School of Medicine works closely with the Dean, Associate/Assistant Deans and senior staff on high-level administrative projects to move forward the strategic initiatives of the School of Medicine.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience:
10 years of related experience in organizational leadership or in healthcare administration
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education:
MD or Ph.D.
Preferred Experience:
Understanding of medical education administration Experience in organizational leadership and healthcare administration.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• High energy, initiative, and creativity are desired
• Work alongside assistant deans and department; partner with others across the College and externally to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc.
• Must be a self–starter and must possess the ability to work under deadline pressure
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, student body, alumni and community
• Proven expertise in planning and executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting, and cost control
• Ability to influence others of the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement and benefit among peers and colleagues.
• Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership Management
• Assumes leadership role on special assignments, including organization and coordination of projects, including leading other projects as requested by the dean.
• Builds and nurtures relationships to serve as a resource for the dean’s office and a point of contact designated for key constituents to resolve complex issues and help move forward strategic priorities.
• Provides leadership for department functions including planning direction and evaluating departmental operations • Leads the development of short- and long-term goals.
• Provides information and reporting to the School of Medicine Dean and senior management
Medicine Strategic Plan / Analytics
• Assists the Dean in implementing the overall goals and objectives of the Medicine strategic plan.
• Advises and provides leadership, conveying an atmosphere of excellence and distinction, supporting the College’s mission, vision, and goals.
• Manages strategic planning and development of integrated programs in the School of Medicine.
Administration
• Builds and nurtures relationships to serve as a resource for the dean’s office and a point of contact designated for key constituents to resolve complex issues and help move forward strategic priorities.
• Provides support to the Dean in developing, coordinating, and organizing initiatives with other partners that support student retention, recruitment, alumni, and donor relations.
• Serves on various state, local, University and system wide committees.
Other Duties
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Will require travel, weekends, and after-hours work.
