Within OVPIA, the Office of International Services (OIS) is dedicated to helping international students and scholars achieve their goals. Our staff recruit, admit, and enroll international students from all over the world. We provide social and cultural programming and visa- and immigration-related advising among other assistance to all international students and scholars. This position facilitates the set-up and take-down of physical spaces for events in the Ferguson International Center. Responsibilities will also include clerical duties such as mail management and maintenance of student admissions data.

General Responsibilities

  • Facilitate set-up and take-down of physical spaces for events in the Ferguson International Center.
  • Assists full-time staff in the receipt, distribution, and shipping of mail for the Ferguson International Center.
  • Monitors and maintain student data, including application and admissions records, within various IU data systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Preferred

  • Some college

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Prior experience in customer service, higher education, or related field

SKILLS

Required

  • Ability to move heavy objects, including furniture, up to 50 pounds
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals

Preferred

  • Familiarity with 1 or more foreign languages helpful for this position¿s work with international documents and the international community
  • Experience with university systems such as the Student Information System (SIS), SUNAPSIS, or comparable systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • International experience and/or familiarity with working with people from a variety of cultures

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.  The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

$13.00 to $16.00 per hour

Required availability from 12:00 PM -8:00 PM Sundays and Mondays and 4:00 PM-8:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Approximately 25-28 hours per week
