JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University – Abington College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. The needs of the department vary, from semester to semester, and the hiring manager will review applications when openings do occur .


Job Duties

  • Adjunct faculty will teach undergraduate courses in the Elementary and Early Childhood Education program, specifically educational foundations and and/or curriculum theorizing as it relates to educational psychology coursework.

This program supports the growth and content understanding beginning with the youngest learners through the fourth grade (PK-4). Students in this program explore theories of teaching and learning; how to be professional educators in diverse school settings; and develop skills in educational leadership, inclusive education, and professional inquiry.  


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Candidates must have an earned masters or doctorate in Education or a related field.
  • In addition, candidates must have PreK-12 teaching experience, with preference for those with experience at the PreK-4 levels in a variety of contexts (e.g., urban, suburban, rural).
  • Preferred candidates will have undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. 
  • Additionally, central to the teacher preparation program at Penn State Abington is preparing educators who have developed anti-bias competencies in their pedagogy and practice.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are prepared to explore anti-bias pedagogies with students through the curriculum and coursework.
  • Employment with the University for this job will require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the FBI Criminal History Background Check.
