Part-time Assistant Instructors for Introductory Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for up to eight part-time Assistant Instructor positions for the Fall 2024 term, each on a one-term basis, outside the tenure stream, with an anticipated start date of 26 August 2024. Each Assistant Instructor will assist in one of three lecture courses: BIOSC 0150 Foundations of Biology 1 (topics of central metabolism and the central dogma), BIOSC 0350 Genetics , or BIOSC 1000 Biochemistry . Duties will include helping the faculty member during lecture with active learning, teaching four recitations per week, grading, and holding office hours. Minimum qualifications are a BS degree in biology or related field and teaching experience (work as an undergraduate TA or as a tutor would be acceptable); preferred qualifications are an MS in biology or enrollment in a biology graduate program, solo teaching experience, training in biochemistry, genetics, or molecular biology, or a PhD in biology.
