Position Summary

The Advancement Coordinator supports alumni and donor engagement for the Sturm College of Law as a member of the unit’s advancement team. Reporting to the Director of Development for Annual Giving, the Coordinator will provide administrative and project management support for events, communications, and initiatives focused on increasing the pipeline of engaged alumni and donors.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Event Support

  • Provide support for key alumni and donor events, with a primary focus on the annual DU Law Stars event, Law Alumni Council meetings, and reunion events.
  • Event-related duties may include, but are not limited to, data management, liaising with central events and communications teams for invitations and registration, managing award video filming, and conducting post-event activities/follow-up.
  • Help schedule and manage student volunteers for events.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on logistics for small events and meetings including ordering food and beverages, room reservations, and audio/visual needs.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide administrative support for alumni engagement activities; including entering emails and contact reports into appropriate University systems, gathering data from internal partners on alumni activities, reviewing and updating information to ensure data integrity, and liaising with central data teams to upload and manage data.
  • Regularly check alumni email inbox; manage, direct, and respond to emails in that inbox as appropriate.
  • Assist in drafting copy for social media channels, the Law Alumni & Friends web pages, and VolunteerDU platform.
  • Support quarterly alumni newsletters through tracking content matrix, review cycles, and deadlines and coordinating interviews as appropriate.

Annual Giving and Stewardship

  • Assist in supporting unit-specific appeals in coordination with the central annual giving team including project management and submitting data requests.  
  • Assist with the annual participation in 1Day4DU for SCOL coordinating closely with unit and central annual giving, alumni engagement, and major gift officers.
  • Assist in sponsor management for annual Law Stars event to include building prospect lists, sending sponsor materials, and following up with sponsors on deliverables.
  • In partnership with the SCOL advancement team support stewardship for annual and leadership annual giving donors through fund-specific stewardship communications, student letter writing campaigns, and student engagement in stewardship events including the annual scholarship reception.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education or work experience (Veterans with equivalent combination of military certification/education and experience may substitute for the degree qualification)
  • 2 years of professional administrative, constituent relations, or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or similarly complex non-profit organization specifically supporting advancement efforts
  • Flexibility for occasional off-site and evening events
  • Professional familiarity with the legal field

Working Environment

  • Standard open office environment
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate
  • Eligible for hybrid work

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period
  • Must be willing and able to travel between multiple buildings across campus
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

Work Schedule

Approximately 15-20 hours per week; flexibility to establish a semi-regular weekly schedule; some nights and weekends as required.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $20.43 - $25.50.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
