Job Summary

An adjunct faculty member at Cambridge College is primarily responsible for teaching in discipline(s) closely related to area(s) in which s/he has specific training or professional expertise, as determined by the School Dean. Teaching responsibilities include planning, organizing, and delivering course material and content, assessing student learning, engaging with students, and participating in School initiatives and activities.

The School of Business & Technology, a newly created academic unit within Cambridge College, is currently looking for an experienced business communications professional to develop and teach graduate business communications courses, including business writing. The ideal candidate will have several years of applied experience in business communications and hold a minimum of a master’s degree in communications or a related field; teaching experience is preferred, but not required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students in assigned modalities (including classroom, hybrid, online, etc.) as per the schedule and course contract using a variety of teaching methods and strategies. Designs and implements engaging classes and instructional material that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts discussed/studied. Provides feedback on students’ progress, including evaluation of student mastery of course and program outcomes using school’s key assignments as required, and is available for student consultations.
  • Evaluates and selects instructional materials and prepares course materials, as needed.
  • Prepares and submits required documentation complying with College policies and procedures including disability accommodations, syllabus and textbook submissions, attendance, and grades.
  • Participates in School and institutional meetings as requested.
  • Notifies the School’s Associate Dean of student situations/issues, such as violations of academic conduct policies.
  • Uses College provided tools and resources to communicate with students and College administrators. All official email communications between the faculty and students and/or the College must be conducted through Cambridge College’s email server.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Good organizational skills and interpersonal relationship skills with students and colleagues.

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in communications or a related field;
  • Several years of applied experience in business communications;
  • Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
