JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The Academic Excellence Center (AEC) is seeking qualified undergraduate students interested in becoming a part-time Tutor for the 2023-2024 Academic Year for one of the following topics: Engineering Mechanics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Physics. Applicants should be able to tutor a wide range of courses within the subject for which they plan to apply. However, we also welcome tutors with an aptitude in a diverse range of courses – you will be able to tutor beyond your focused topic. To tutor for a course, you are required to have taken the course previously.   


 


  • Engineering Mechanics Tutors are needed to tutor for EMCH 210, 211, 212, and 213.  

  • Computer Engineering Tutors are needed to tutor for CMPEN 270.  

  • Computer Science Tutors are needed to tutor for CMPSC 131, 132, 200, 201, 221, 360, and 465.  


  • Electrical Engineering Tutors are needed to tutor for EE 200, 210, and 211. 

  • Mathematics Tutors are needed to tutor MATH 140, 141, 220, 230, 231, 250, and 251.  

  • Physics Tutors are needed to tutor for PHYS 211, 212, 213, and 214.  

  • Chemistry Tutors are needed to tutor for CHEM 110, 111, 112, 113, 202, and 210. 


 


Students are permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week, but we ask that you are available for a minimum of 10 hours across at least two days of the week. The hours of operation for the AEC are Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Monday through Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The schedule is flexible, and we are willing to work with you to find a time that is best for you to tutor. While we do offer virtual tutoring to broaden accessibility, we ask that tutors provide at least 80% of their hours in-person to meet demand.   


 


Most students will be walk-ins, but there are opportunities to tutor for opt-in Study Nights in addition to your typical schedule.
