The Parking Services Officer I, under supervision, enforces parking regulations and offers public assistance to employees and visitors.

What you need to know

Other Requirements or Factors: Must be able to lift or move heavy objects. Work rotating shifts, including weekends.

Location: Dallas, Texas

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years full-time work experience

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license within 30 days of employment

Preferred Experience:

  • One year of parking operations

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities

Enforcement Duties:

  • Responsible to patrol garages and surface lot in Dallas and compare occupied spaces to parking database

  • Applies and removes immobility devices

  • Assists Parking Services staff with towing of vehicles

Public Outreach:

  • Enforces parking regulations by giving warnings and issuing parking citations including checking for overtime or illegal/restricted parking

  • Provides low-level security while patrolling

  • Assist patrons with operation of the Parking machines located in the garage and at the entrances and exits

  • Moves and sets up barrels, barricades and other traffic control equipment

  • Performs traffic control and direction duties

  • Provides information to employees, students, and visitors regarding campus parking regulations and directions

Daily Audit Duties:

  • Assist Parking Services Supervisor to reconcile cash and permits sold at the end of shift

  • Keeps records and makes detailed reports

Emergency Assistance Duties:

  • May perform duties including handling routine and emergency calls, disseminating information to the appropriate parties, providing license plate and parking permit information, coordinating activities with other agencies and/or emergency services and may direct the actions of other parking service officers
