Job Summary

PARI supports applied research projects in multiple areas; however, for this position, students will be expected to work in research topics related to national security and defense (e.g., hypersonic missiles and blast hardened structures), as well as sustainable and resilient physical infrastructure (e.g., for infrastructure facilities related to nuclear or renewable power, energy projects related to green/blue hydrogen and liquefied natural or petroleum gas, and civilian infrastructure projects such as for highway/rail/air transportation systems).  The following duties are envisioned:

 

  • Perform literature review, leading to a state-of-the-art report
  • Work with the research team to develop innovative, sustainable, resilient solutions to emerging infrastructure challenges, leading to design models (e.g., CAD)
  • Work with the research team to design and conduct experiments (physical or simulation), leading to verified and implementable solutions
  • Prepare end-of-semester presentation, poster, and report
  • Support the research team in preparation of periodic and final project reports

    Eligible students are invited to apply with suitable research topic(s) that align with the above-described research areas.  Undergraduate students with minimum GPA 3.0 are encouraged to apply.  Incoming freshman students should have taken either some pre-engineering courses in high school (e.g., from Project Lead The Way curriculum) or should have relevant work experience.  These positions require either US citizenship or US permanent resident status.
