Position Summary

PART-TIME
Parent Resource Navigators are parents or family members of children with special health care needs (CSHCN) and disabilities who are knowledgeable regarding the services, resources and supports available throughout Nebraska. Parent Resource Navigators are experienced in navigating service delivery systems with an emphasis on early intervention services in the schools. They use their knowledge and training to help families of CSHCNs and disabilities access suitable community resources and services. PRCs provide information referral services to families of children with special health care needs in community medical offices and coordinate with families to assure access to recommended services. The position reports directly to the Family Care Enhancement Project Coordinator at MMI and interacts with all University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) faculty, staff, and members of the UCEDD Consumer Advisory Board.

Advocacy, self-advocacy or program management related to programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Experience working with information referral for children with special health care.
