Job Summary

Prep and finish various products using air syphon spray booth, applying lacquers, enamels, oil and water base paints, stains, epoxies, and special finishes.  Custom-mix all types of paint and other finishes and air-spray material in spray booth.   Custom-mix different types of paint, enamel, stains, lacquers, and other finishes to achieve desired color, texture, and finish or to match existing finish.  Prepare all types of materials for finishing by sanding, stripping, cleaning, acid etching, and sealing.
 


What you will be doing

Prep and finish various products using air syphon spray booth, applying lacquers, enamels, oil and water base paints, stains, epoxies, and special finishes.  
Custom-mix all types of paint and other finishes and air-spray material in spray booth.   
Custom-mix different types of paint, enamel, stains, lacquers, and other finishes to achieve desired color, texture, and finish or to match existing finish.  
Prepare all types of materials for finishing by sanding, stripping, cleaning, acid etching, and sealing.
Maintain air syphon booth and equipment and other painting equipment, cleaning, changing filters, etc.  
Maintain and supervise maintenance of paint shop and equipment.
Understand and consider the global nature of the University.

What you must have :

High school diploma/GED is required.  
Three years painting experience required, including experience in applying lacquers, enamels, oil and water based paints, stains, and special finishes using various application methods to include but not limited to air syphon spray booth, airless sprayer, brush and roller.  
Experience required in preparing surfaces using various methods to include but not limited to sanding, stripping, cleaning, acid etching, and sealing.   
Experience required in custom mixing paints and stains
Knowledge of various surface properties and preparation requirements to receive the specified finish.  
Demonstrated ability to custom match colors/stains.  
Must be fitted for and use required respiratory equipment during specific operations.  
Computer skills/familiarity with word processor and spreadsheets necessary.  
Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.  
Must pass annual physical.  
Valid Driver’s License required.  
Knowledge of West Lafayette campus and facilities preferred.
