Painter II-Paint Shop

Provides mid to senior level experience, knowledge, and leadership in the area of painting.  Prepares and applies all types of interior and exterior paints and/or finishes.  This position will apply paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces of campus buildings. This will include such tasks as: prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or blowtorches; fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using a caulking gun or a putty knife; and primes surfaces as necessary; Protects all nearby furnishings and building materials before and during every painting job, including carpets, cabinetry, outlet covers, lighting fixtures and landscaping; Works with other construction professionals as well as other professional painters on larger jobs.
This position will also perform general and custom painting assignments employing all standard trade practices and skills; plastering and drywall repair; set up, break down and work from scaffolding, man lifts and ladders in both interior and exterior settings; maintain and clean tools, equipment and work areas; maintain accurate report of time spent and quantity of materials/supplies used for each project daily; other duties as assigned. Directs and advises in-house painters, contractors, and student workers on occasion.  
While performing the duties of either job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and crawling all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Additionally, must be able to work in cramped spaces, climb ladders, work at heights of 20 feet and above.
This position will work Monday to Friday; 7am-3:30pm. 
High school diploma or equivalent required;
5 years painting experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Basic computer skills preferred;
Must fulfill University respiratory protection program;
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures;
Complete assigned PM’s and provide feedback on any improvements that might be needed;
Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area;
Ability to be “on-call” on a rotational schedule;
Ability to work outside in various temperatures (summer/winter);
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation;
Ability to work at heights of 20 feet and above
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Must have a current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years;
Must fulfill University respiratory protection program
