Position Summary
The part-time faculty position will assumes duties in teaching in the classroom, in clinical laboratories, and in clinical duties and research activities.
This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct classroom and clinical laboratory teaching in the optometry theory and clinical examination course series.
  • Perform clinical duties in the UIWSO Eye care Clinics.
  • Participate in research activities or projects.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and to answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
  • OD from an accredited school or college of optometry.
  • Completion of a residency/fellowship program or a minimum of three years equivalent clinical experience.
Required Work Experience
Experience working within a team-teaching environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with advanced academic degrees, residency training, or teaching experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Eligibility for licensure to practice the full scope of Optometry in Texas.
Work Hours
Based on course assignment.
