Description of Work Unit
The One Water Solutions Institute (OWSI) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), provides world-class research and innovative technologies to promote collaboration between CSU and outside partners such as local governments, private sector/industry members and non-profit organizations. OWSI is home to several national research centers with specific efforts underway to address a variety of water sustainability challenges. The fundamental research and resulting products developed by OWSI facilitate adoption of “One Water” strategies with a focus on technological, institutional and financial pathways toward sustainable management of water and linked systems.  The CEE Department at CSU is recognized both nationally and internationally for its education, research, and service and outreach programs, and is ranked in the top 40 of such programs in the USA. The CEE Department consists of 36 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 16 research scientists/scholars, 27 research associates, and 11 administrative professionals. Position Summary
The Object Modeling System Laboratory (OMSLab) at Colorado State University (CSU) is seeking an experienced developer to build and deploy web applications to support research projects and software development with the One Water Solutions Institute (OWSI). These applications include web-based interactions with geospatial databases, statistical analysis, visualization, integration of environmental models, and report generation capabilities. The development and deployment of the tools build on two CSU technologies: Cloud Services Integration Platform (CSIP) and the Catena Web Platform. Candidates must have strong programming experience with an interest in product design and have coded applications in JavaScript (React/Redux), Python, Java and SQL. The individual will work under close supervision of OWSI-OMSLab staff. This is a full-time salaried position located on our Fort Collins campus with a full benefits package.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience building and designing web applications.
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience programming experience in JavaScript (React/Redux), Python, Java, Bash, and SQL 
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience designing and developing web-based user interfaces using React/Redux/ES6 and respective design and development tools.
  • Experience using a development tool chain, version control, testing, and tracking systems in a collaborative software development setting.
  • Experience with open-source SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs for web-services and GraphQL 
  • Experience in web-based geo-spatial data representation, handling, processing, and visualization and respective tools
  • Experience building accessible websites that meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG
