The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Works Office of Recruitment and Workforce Development is seeking a dynamic Admissions Counselor II to provide leadership and support over several tasks related to the recruitment of prospective students across all of the Schools degree and non-degree programs. This position reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment and works closely with them to coordinate several functions related to the recruitment and admissions of prospective students.

Their key tasks include planning and implementing outreach and recruitment efforts, such as attending college recruitment fairs, delivering in-class presentations, advising prospective students and their families, and assisting applicants through the admissions cycle. They will also coordinate efforts with other departments, as needed, to analyze and solve problems related to recruitment and admissions processes, including overseeing tasks related to the importing of applications to ensure accuracy and timely processing.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Counsels prospective students and their families on university admission policies, procedures and educational opportunities at various stages of the application and enrollment process.
  • Follows up on applicant inquiries, evaluating and offering solutions to any problems and requests regarding admission.
  • Initiates and maintains communication with students in person, virtually and via telephone, email, customer-relationship management (CRM) systems, and social media about the status of admission applications.
  • Ensures confidentiality and compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Supports the Director of Special Events with the planning and coordination of in-person and remote activities related to recruitment and admissions.
  • Manages the efforts and workloads or student workers and admissions staff to implement recruitment and admissions efforts.
  • Supports the Senior Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment with the development of promotional materials and campaigns.
  • Provides support in the planning, design, development, and implementation of special projects.
  • Gathers and evaluates data that will inform future recruitment practices and strategies. Reports findings to School leadership, as necessary.
  • Serves as a key point of contact for the School of Social Work and the university community.
  • Evening and weekend work are seasonally required.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors degree

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the School of Social Works values, including social justice, anti-racism, inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.

The annual base salary range for this position is $63,124.12 - $75,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
