Airlift Northwest - Outreach Clinical Educator

*(please note, this position is open only to current Airlift NW employees.)

The Outreach Clinical Educator position is a unique hybrid role at Airlift Northwest.  This position will work with the Clinical Education and Outreach departments at ALNW to meet the educational needs of both requestors and staff.  The Outreach Clinical Educator will be responsible to plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver education events for our requestors (EMS and outside hospitals) and support the execution of the Clinical Education Team's goals internally.  

Must be skilled in performing and analyzing a learning needs assessment.  Will work with ALNW outreach staff and requestors to identify learning needs.  Candidate must be proficient in public speaking.  Candidate will be expected to identify and apply the most recent practice evidence for presentations. Will be expected to regularly communicate feedback from requestors, progress towards goals, and overall performance of outreach education.   Candidate is responsible to track all outreach activities in EMS Charts.

ALNW depends on requests from pre-hospital agencies and hospitals across Washington and southeast Alaska. It is important to continue to develop relationships with requesting agencies to educate regarding ALNW capabilities and increase overall requests from all agencies. This position will have a direct impact on the patient care in the communities ALNW serves.  ALNW is critical to referrals to UW Medicine in quaternary care, some of the highest reimbursed care in all of UW Medicine. The communities ALNW serves depends on us to be a bridge to life saving care.  This position will support the University’s commitment to improving community health. 

Clinical Education-Internal and External

- Conduct and analyze learning needs assessment of learners

- Delivery and/or coordination of trainings and presentations in varied settings (prehospital, hospital, and ALNW)

- Collaborate with Clinical Educators and Outreach RNs.

- Validation and approval of outreach presentations by outreach speakers 

-Managing customer relationships  

Curriculum Development 

-Develop content for a  variety of learners of varied backgrounds

- Develop and evaluate menu of offerings

-Determine delivery method for offerings

Administrative Duties

-Tracking events in ALNW's electronic charting platform

This position requires a person with a dynamic personality who is flexible, extroverted, strategic, and team oriented.  The candidate must be adept in devising multiple tools for communicating on multiple channels to internal and external providers. This candidate will need to flourish in a changing environment and demonstrate self-motivation and resiliency.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree or BSN

Professional Certification - Critical Care Certification, CEN, CCRN, or CFRN required depending on clinical background

4-5 years experience

Active clinical experience and 3 years of education design and delivery experience (can be concurrent with clinical experience).
Critical Care Certification, CEN, CCRN, or CFRN required depending on clinical background
Experience in emergency medicine, transport, or ICU environment
Proficiency in electronic medical record keeping and Microsoft Office programs.
DESIRED:

Paramedic - Critical care certification

RN with emergency medicine, transport, or ICU experience - same requirements as above.

National certification (CEN, CCRN, CFRN)  required for RNs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This job requires travel outside of the ALNW main office to include driving, flying, and meeting with outside organizations.  Cubicle environment at ALNW offices.  Participation in meetings with large and small groups of physicians, nurses, prehospital providers, forest service, etc.
