Job Description

The OUHSC Transportation Supervisor is responsible for supervising department staff and coordinating daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services to the University. This includes performing a variety of administrative functions relating to establishing staffing levels, scheduling, training, written evaluations, and preparing transportation reports and vehicle logs. 

Duties:

  • Supervises and trains staff for the safe and efficient operation of equipment while transporting students, employees, faculty, and visitors
  • Completes employee performance evaluations and makes recommendations, including personnel actions for staff.
  • Ensures compliance of departmental rules and regulations 
  • Develops designated shuttle schedule and seeks efficient travel routes
  • Assigns personnel schedules and routes
  • Maintains records reflecting vehicle usage and maintenance
  • Conducts routine vehicle inspections and schedules repairs on vehicles as needed
  • Ensures compliance of all DOT and University of Oklahoma regulations to operate safely, including adhering to all traffic laws, state, and local ordinances
  • Drives busses as needed and other duties as assigned
 

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED AND:

  • 24 months supervisory experience in transportation or fleet management plus 24 months of verifiable driving experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Must maintain valid Oklahoma CDL (Class B with passenger endorsement.)
  • Pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Ability to maintain basic logs and records
  • Ability to motivate, discipline, train, and develop Transportation staff
  • Knowledge of transportation management and DOT requirements
  • Excellent leadership and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
  • Detail oriented with time-management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma CDL (Class B with passenger endorsement)

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Minimum Physical Requirements: Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time on a regular basis. Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs.  Ability to push or pull up to 40 lbs. Ability to cling, crouch, bend, or stoop. Ability to pass pre-hire screenings of both DOT physicals (CDL and Fit for Work duties)
  • Environmental: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing
