Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill a part-time student position for the OSU Alumni Association at Oregon State University (OSU).  
  • The position is located at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center on the Corvallis campus. 
  • The position reports to the Director of Regional Programs. 

The OSU Alumni Association is seeking an engaging and motivated student assistant to support the Regional Programs. This position will work closely with the Director of Regional Programs and lead regional ambassadors to help keep regional social media pages and content updated and engaging, help with event planning and logistics and other tasks as assigned.
Position Duties
  • Digital Marketing/maintenance 
    • Create, curate and post content to engage with targeted audience using various forms of digital communication on the regional Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other relevant platforms, based on OSUAA policies, OSU’s official social media policies, and OSUAA’s commitment to provide respectful, inclusive communities focused on professional development.
  • Approve/decline new member requests across all regional social media platforms based on OSUAA/OSUF student/alumni records and online searches.
  • Post event info on relevant social media pages and share with key ambassadors through calls, emails.
  • Keeping the regional ambassadors’ database up to date and accurate.
  • Scheduling meetings with regional groups and leads as needed. Tracking minutes and RSVP of these meetings. 
  • Sending post-event evaluation emails to regional ambassadors and event attendees. 
  • Assisting to improve a project management system for the regional program.
  • Preparing mailings including using Excel/Word for mail merges, adhering labels to envelopes, sending event and regional information and promotional items to regions.
  • Data entry.
  • Updating information on web pages.
  • Record keeping and reconciliation.
  • Manage supply inventory.
  • Respond to Regional Programs inquiries and requests via phone, email and written correspondence.
  • Other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Customer service: answering phones, greeting customers, answering email inquiries.
  • Data entry and looking up information in alumni database.
  • Preparing envelopes and packages for mail.
  • Scanning and copying documents.
  • Updating information on web pages.
  • Packing supply boxes for events.
  • Preparing name tags and materials for events.
  • Running campus errands.
  • Occasionally assisting at registration for alumni events: handing out name tags, greeting guests.
  • Other duties as necessary.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
