Position Description:
The Orthopaedic technician is responsible for working under the supervision of an RN, Practitioner and/or Physician in the treatment of bone and joint injuries in an ambulatory clinic setting. The incumbent must possess the clinical skills in the application and removal of casts, splints, braces and other essential DME products, including the effective and safe use of equipment required to perform such duties. The Orthopaedic Technician must demonstrate competency in caring for and educating patients on wound care, appropriate use and care of assistive devices or aids. The Orthopaedic Technician must be able to perform many tasks independently, adequately document in the patients electronic record while ensuring measures are taken to protect patient confidential information.


Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:   High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in an orthopaedic clinic required.  

Preferred: Experience with DME and casting for all extremities

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:

Required:
Certification within twelve (12) months of hire by either:

• National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT)
OR
• American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP)

Current CPR/BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
