Department Summary

The Lundquist College of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest accreditation standard for business schools internationally. Lundquist offers both undergraduate and graduate level education in business on the University of Oregon’s main campus in Eugene, OR, as well as two graduate business degree programs in Portland, OR. These include the Oregon Executive Master’s of Business Administration (OEMBA) and the Sports Product Management (SPM) program, which together are referred to as Lundquist Portland Programs.

The Oregon Executive MBA (OEMBA) is a transformational experience that gives already accomplished professionals the confidence and skill to become successful leaders in today’s complex and global business world. Collaborating with your cohort of talented peers and learning team is one aspect of the Oregon Executive MBA experience. Getting an insider perspective from leaders in business, government, and nonprofit organizations who visit the program is another aspect. Global Study trips, networking with other executive MBA students and alumni and forging new bonds with unexpected contacts complete the package.


Position Summary

The Oregon Executive MBA Program (OEMBA) within the Lundquist College of Business, at the University of Oregon is seeking a career faculty member at the rank of Instructor to teach up to two courses within the program as well as serve as the Capstone Coordinator. Employment may begin as early as spring term (March 2024), or no later than September 16, 2024. This is a 9-month instructional contract. Summer opportunities may be available.

This position will teach up to two (2) courses (10-20%) with the balance of the position (30-40%) being service (e.g., as the capstone coordinator).

As the Capstone Coordinator for the OEMBA Program, the role collaborates closely with the Director of the OEMBA, the Academic Director, the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, and other key stakeholders serving as the major point of contact and coordination for the Oregon Executive MBA Capstone Course. The Capstone is a 7-credit course scheduled across three terms in year two of the OEMBA curriculum. The Capstone provides students with an opportunity to apply tools from the core curriculum to a real-world business challenge. The Capstone Coordinator will also serve as one of the capstone advisors, advising up to six (6) students on their capstone projects.


Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree.
• One (1) year of academic teaching experience in higher education or equivalent (such as designing and implementing training, short courses, or workshops).
• Professional business work experience including program oversight and management.


Professional Competencies

• Strong program management and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Interest, experience, and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity.


Preferred Qualifications

• MBA.
• Background in entrepreneurial/business creation, advising/consulting, and/or investing.
• Experience in both MBA executive education and program management in higher education.
