Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR-FM Podcast Director position for the Orange Media Network (OMN) at Oregon State University (OSU). 
The KBVR-FM Podcast Director is responsible for coordinating, uploading, and organizing podcasts for the KBVR-FM website and iTunes.
Position Duties
KBVR-FM Podcast Director Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Productions Director to facilitate trainings and to schedule time in the Production Room
  • Gain proficiency in Adobe Audition and other pertinent software as necessary
  • Recruit students to become podcasters for KBVR-FM
  • Organize podcast trainings at the beginning of each term
  • Supervise podcasters, assisting with direction, content, or audio editing as needed. 
  • Organize podcast trainings each term to teach podcasters to become self-sufficient in the creation of their episodes
  • Receive audio recordings of finished podcast episodes and update the KBVR-FM website at least once per week with podcast episodes and recordings
  • Create and update a podcast production schedule
  • Send information on newly posted episodes to FM Station Manager to share on social media
  • Hold regular check-ins with podcasters, either in-person or online, checking on the progress of episodes and providing support and feedback
  • Work with the FM Station Manager and the Creative Team on establishing brand identities with each podcast
  • Host 1-2 DJ info sessions per term as delegated by the Station Manager
  • Learn Wide Orbit music scheduling software and Wheatstone equipment in the DJ booth
  • Participate in training new DJs as assigned by station manager
  • Post to KBVR-FM social media as directed by the social media calendar

Communication
  • Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN
  • Notify adviser immediately should any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur

Collaboration
  • Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term
  • Follow all OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well
  • Act professionally
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Is knowledgeable of the SPJ Code of Ethics
  • Is knowledgeable of Spotify, Soundcloud, and other online streaming services
  • Is a strong writer, communicator and comfortable with public speaking
  • Is organized and reliable

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Had been a paid member of staff of the cohort for at least one term
  • Had prior attendance and participation in OMN Training Camp
  • Knowledge of podcasting and podcast hosting
  • Is knowledgeable in live on-air radio operations, including Wide Orbit and Wheatstone equipment in DJ booth
  • Is knowledgeable of FCC rules and requirements
