Position Qualification


Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to provide educational and technical expertise and skills in the instruction of dental students, residents and fellows and care of patients in the UNMC College of Dentistry Clinics and the UNMC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics. While the primary responsibility will be with the UNMC College of Dentistry, a joint position with the Oral and Maxillofacial Division in the Department of Surgery at the UNMC College of Medicine is possible.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to provision of didactic, preclinical and clinical education to dental students, dental hygiene students and residents and fellows, to conduct research and to participate in service to the University community and beyond.
Educational responsibilities: This position will assist in advising clinical competency metrics for oral/maxillofacial surgery, didactic instruction and course directorship in oral and maxillofacial surgical curriculum and clinical supervision of oral and maxillofacial treatment, including the prevention and treatment of medical emergencies and oversight of sedation. The position will also supervise the code blue team, including the integration of all emergency devices, drugs, and practice drills.

Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a DDS or DMD degree or an equivalent degree from an international program along with completion of an ADA accredited clinical, specialty program and successful completion of Part I and II of the National Board Dental Examination. The candidate must be Board certified/board eligible by American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and eligible for a Nebraska dental license and moderate sedation permit. Opportunities for participation in private or faculty practice are available.
