Job Summary
The Appalachian Center is recruiting an undergraduate student to help with transcribing and archiving the oral history interviews resulting from a UNITE grant-funded project beginning on March 1. The work will occur throughout the Summer 2024 semester, May 15 – July 15. Location of work is at the Nunn Center and Appalachian Center, with field interviews  Location of work is at the Nunn Center and Appalachian Center, with field interviews occurring in Knox County, Kentucky. A student is critical for project completion, which will provide an important opportunity to document the multigenerational relationships between local identity and the environment near Barbourville. The Appalachian Center oral history assistant will be transcribing, indexing, and accessioning up to 12 audio interviews from a special project entitled, “Environment and Heritage along the Cumberland River.” The assistant will also be trained at the Nunn Center and participate in helping to record interviews. They will describe interviews/collections, help with data entry, participate in archival inventory using OHMS system, and other duties as assigned.
