Job Description:

The Ophthalmic Technician provides patient care services within the medical office.

  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures and assists physician as needed
  • Prepare patient charts for physician visit
  • Obtain ocular, medical, and family history
  • Perform ocular assessment and testing, manifest refractometry, and spectacle prescription evaluation
  • Perform screening and diagnostic testing and assessments under the direction of the ophthalmologist
  • Instruct patient regarding medications, tests, and procedures
  • Instill ocular medications
  • Coordinates clinical services including patient care, appointment scheduling, and procedure scheduling
  • Participate in telephone triage
  • Maintains adequate supplies in exam and treatment rooms
  • Acts as an engaged member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.  Participates in team meetings, care huddles, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of work:

This is a part-time position; anticipated 24 hours per week. Expected hours are from 8am to 5pm.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday. Hours and location of work may flex based on scheduling and coverage needs. Regular and reliable attendance is expected.

Hourly Rate:

$20.29 Per Hour

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience. Must hold a Florida Ophthalmic or Optometric Technologist certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in an ophthalmology practice / patient care setting.
