Position Summary

This position coordinates and oversees the activities of the custodial staff in a group of campus buildings that cater to events, particularly post-event cleaning activities; trains and evaluates employees; plans staffing and time schedules; enforces departmental and University rules; resolves employee complaints and grievances; prepares forms and records to maintain working inventory; responds to emergencies, inquiries, and complaints from faculty, students, tenants, and the public; inspects and assesses problems, damage, and condition of buildings to facilitate repair and maintain safety standards.

Salary Range: low $55,260 - avg $63,154 - high $71,049

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in two or three years of college, technical, vocational, trade or business school with coursework in Human Resources, Communication or Business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment, and may require one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license.


Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in buildings; experience in computer usage, inventory control, and athletic facility cleaning; experience with heavy metal buffers, scrubbers, and strippers; familiarity with University buildings and department needs; expertise in Microsoft Office products; knowledge of facilities operations; knowledge of University policies and practices; use of database software,  (ex. EBS and PLANNON); good customer relations/service skills; ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team; ability to present concepts strategies to various audiences; solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task yet give attention to detail with frequent interruptions; ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously; aptitude and willingness to learn new software and data analysis tools and methodology.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday 6:00pm - 3:00am. May be required to work after hours, weekends, and holidays. May be required to flex shift or work overtime to cover major events.
