Operations Manager
Requisition ID req29587
Working Title Operations Manager
Position Grade 13
Position Summary

UNM Health Sciences is seeking an Operations Manager to manage the operations, provide research coordination, and assist with the growth of the UNM Health Sciences Center of Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation research laboratories. In addition to managing the daily operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the researchers, the operations manager will assist clinical research projects and work directly with the HSC Rio Rancho leadership in strategic planning and community engagement. The Operations Manager will serve a critical role working with both the HSC leadership at the Rio Rancho Campus and the UNM Department of Orthopaedics leadership and research teams.

The UNM Center of Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation (COE), opened in 2020, is a start-of-the-art orthopaedics facility at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences campus in Rio Rancho that unites clinical and research activities under one roof. The facility includes clinical and rehabilitation infrastructure. In addition, the facility includes an extensive orthopaedics biomechanical and tissue engineering research laboratory. The two-story 50,000- square-foot structure is located adjacent to UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Rio Rancho’s City Center. The COE provides a unique space for synergy between clinical and research experts to advance and improve orthopaedic outcomes.

Researchers at the COE research laboratories conduct basic and applied musculoskeletal research, bringing together scientists, engineers, and clinicians from the UNM School of Medicine and School of Engineering. The laboratory areas include a surgical training and cadaveric lab, an engineering machine shop, mechanical testing area, and biosafety level 2 work stations. Research topics cover all anatomical regions of the human body with clinical collaborators from each of our 10 surgical subspecialties. A significant focus of our laboratory is to assist with facilitation of research requirements as part of the undergraduate and graduate medical education programs. Clinical research coordination would also involve interacting with a well-established Orthopaedics research team at the UNM HSC Main Campus to complete new study submissions to the IRB, subject recruitment and enrollment in clinical trials, and data collection and ensuring data quality.
