General Information
The Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship (GGCFE) at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Operations Manager to manage the daily operations of the GCFE to include scheduling, event planning, communications and administrative support. The successful candidate will serve as the first line of customer service for the Center and support GCFE leadership team as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Operations:
Manage processes and workflow related to expenditures for the GCFE activities; arrange travel for the GCFE activities; coordinate purchases for participants in the GCFE programs; perform fiscal responsibilities necessary to manage program operations following university guidelines; field questions as needed and provide information about and directions to appropriate resources. Maintain and update application databases and membership rosters for incubator students, accelerator students, advisory council members, mentors and coaches.
Event Management:
Assist the GCFE leadership team with planning activities for the GCFE; coordinate space and other reservations for the GCFE events; coordinate payments and paperwork for the GCFE events; manage registration and related activities for events and work with the executive director to plan and manage advisory board events.
Integrated Marketing Support:
Work with the director of marketing and communications to update and maintain GCFE website. Actively manage all social media for the GCFE. Participates in the creation and design of marketing materials as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate respect for others, support for department and organizational goals. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously (i.e., project management skills). 
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, students and faculty from across the university and in the broader business community. 
  • Basic knowledge of computer and other office machines. 
  • Skilled in all social media applications. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Proficient software skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), email and internet; ability to manage and manipulate data in Excel for reporting purposes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams, Zoom and CANVA.

  • Undergraduate (Associates or Bachelors) degree preferred.
  • Experience with Student Administration (SA) system, PeopleSoft, AiM, eVA and Chrome preferred.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. 
 
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
