Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Operations Coordinator for the Graduation and Retention Network (GARNET) and the First-Generation Center (FGC) is responsible for the day-to-day fiscal and human resource transactions of the units. The Administrative Coordinator will assist leadership by preparing enrollment reports, tracking graduation and retention rates for programs and other projects as needed by their supervisor. The coordinator will provide excellent customer service to meet the administrative needs of university departments and office personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience in business management, public administration, human resources, or administrative services; or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with higher education human resources and/or payroll. Knowledge and familiarity with higher education support services.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent customer service, human resource, business operation and data management skills, especially the ability to work with other office members to accomplish complex tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication, program coordination, and organizational/planning skills. Ability to provide accurate work products with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Proactively generates options toward problem resolution. Knowledge of general office practices/procedures and computing hardware/software resources. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Serve as primary human resources contact for the Graduation & Retention Network and the First-Generation Center to include but not limited to the following items: hiring, onboarding, position description changes, annual performance evaluations and employee relations matters. Must navigate detailed processes including dual employment, background checks, and departmental approvals. Provide assistance and guidance to department staff to ensure compliance with federal, state and University policies and procedures. Serves as point of contact for HR related questions or concerns, researches, and resolves HR related issues as needed.

Prepare and present information, reports, and other data for GARNET for discussion and decision-making purposes. Effectively provide data to office leadership to assist with implementing the mission for the office. Run reports to support the needs of the department and the programs within.

Responsible for the tracking of students enrolled in departmental programs for graduation and retention details. Run reports to identify students who may be eligible / benefit from programs offered by GARNET and the First-Generation Center. Oversee that instructors for summer, Winter Session and GARNET are submitting grades within the established timeline designated by the Office of the Registrar.

Serves as the department liaison and representative within the university for all financial / fiscal issues related to the Department, its vision, and programs. Serves as resource to staff regarding financial / fiscal issues including budgets, payroll, purchasing and contacts. Performs other duties as assigned.
