Job Summary

 

The Fusion Studio has entered a new and exciting period of growth with the gift of a $1M strategic development fund and the upcoming opening of the new Martinson Engineering and Entertainment Lab, with a focus on animatronics, 4D environmental experiences, and more. The Operations Manager will oversee day to day operations of the Fusion Studio for Entertainment and Engineering (FSSE) and play in integral role in ensuring that center initiatives are met.  The individual in this role will provide direction for the development and delivery of center initiatives, operational processes, communications, and project reporting functions. As the operations subject matter expert for the center, they will communicate with stakeholders within and outside the area to influence others regarding facts, policies, and practices.  Close work will be done with the Co-Directors and supporting staff from both the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and the College of Engineering (CoE), to conduct smooth business operations, increase collaboration, and gather information.

 

The Operations Manager will also plan operational objectives and lead related elements of all key events to support the center, managing overall planning and initiative/event oversight and logistical details. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to proactively engaging external stakeholders and firms to solicit participation in the FSEE mission and initiatives, managing complex calendar and travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, collecting, and providing support materials, coordinating between colleges and programs, offering outreach and supervision to student workers, and mentoring or training students and other support staff.

 

This is an on-site, limited-duration appointment expected to last 4 years. Following that time, the position may be extended, fully dependent on the ability to secure additional center funding. Pay for this position will be between $50,000 and $54,000, based on experience and organizational discretion. 


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of center initiatives and operational processes.
  • Communications to internal & external stakeholders/social media.
  • Project Management and Reporting. 
  • Supervision of student workers and mentoring or training students and other support staff.
  • Outreach & engaging external stakeholders and firms to solicit participation in the FSEE mission and initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience overseeing day to day operations of an administrative or academic resource unit.  
  • Preferred qualification of BS degree in engineering, management, live events/theatre production, or related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
